Summary

Lilac's birthright makes her the Queen of Renovia, and a forced marriage made her the Queen of Stavin。 But being a ruler does not mean making the rules。 For Lilac, taking the throne means giving up the opportunity to be with love of her life, the kingdom's assassin, Caledon Holt。

Worse, Cal is forced to leave the castle when a horrific set of magical attacks threatens Lilac's sovereignty。 Now Cal and Lilac will have to battle dark forces separately, even though being together is the only thing that's ever saved them。

In the riveting conclusion to Melissa De La Cruz's fantasy duet, love and magic are at war, and victory rests on a knife's edge。

This book like the first had a lot of potential to be really good。 It super annoying to me that when princesses have dual lives and the other takes over they suddenly become sort of wimpy characters。 There just wasn’t much more character development and so that left us with it being just a mediocre story。 There are so many loose ends and questions unanswered。 I gave it 3 stars instead of the 2 I would have given it, because it was an easy read, a cute story and took me away from real life for a This book like the first had a lot of potential to be really good。 It super annoying to me that when princesses have dual lives and the other takes over they suddenly become sort of wimpy characters。 There just wasn’t much more character development and so that left us with it being just a mediocre story。 There are so many loose ends and questions unanswered。 I gave it 3 stars instead of the 2 I would have given it, because it was an easy read, a cute story and took me away from real life for a bit。 。。。more

Not as good as book one, but still an enjoyable read。 It was nice to see Cal and Lilac's story continue and be wrapped up the way it was。 It does feel like this story was a bit rushed, and had some plot holes, but I still had a good reading experience overall。 Not as good as book one, but still an enjoyable read。 It was nice to see Cal and Lilac's story continue and be wrapped up the way it was。 It does feel like this story was a bit rushed, and had some plot holes, but I still had a good reading experience overall。 。。。more

I still loved the characters in this sequel, but they complained essentially nonstop about their complicated romantic situation。 I felt it to be very slow - missing much of the action and adventure from the first one。 Not Melissa de la Cruz's best work, but enjoyed the conclusion of the duology。 I still loved the characters in this sequel, but they complained essentially nonstop about their complicated romantic situation。 I felt it to be very slow - missing much of the action and adventure from the first one。 Not Melissa de la Cruz's best work, but enjoyed the conclusion of the duology。 。。。more

SO the reason the rating is so low is that I just didn't enjoy this book。 The plot wasn't an ongoing thing and there wasn't really a main goal it could have been a novella。 No substance its a no from me sorry melissa SO the reason the rating is so low is that I just didn't enjoy this book。 The plot wasn't an ongoing thing and there wasn't really a main goal it could have been a novella。 No substance its a no from me sorry melissa 。。。more

A lot more suspense and mystery。 Spoilers ahead:However i couldn’t help but be let down after the final battle (if you even want to call it a battle) when Queen Liliac shots the flaming arrow at the demon king killing him。 These scene has been built up over both books and it felt like it was too easy。 There is no real fight or big battle。 I had a feeling Queen Liliac would be pregnant with Cals heir instead of the kings。 Still not as much romance as I was hop Better than the first book for sure! I hated this book。 I read chapter 1 to 4 but then skip to the end with the last three chapters。 So, i have DNF this novel。 It was boring!!!! I truly thought she would have get divorce from Hansen and married Cal。 That would have been a better ending then her having Cal's twins and having one live with Hansen and his side pleasure slave。 I hated this book。 I read chapter 1 to 4 but then skip to the end with the last three chapters。 So, i have DNF this novel。 It was boring!!!! This is the second book in the series and I read the first one so long ago, I only really remember that I really really liked it。 This one took me a long time to get into and remember what was going on and who all the characters were。 By the time I was into it again, it was over。 The main "boss fight" was a total let down。 After two books of building up to this showdown with the big bad demon King Phras, he goes down without much of a fight。 Cal literally does nothing。! While I enjoyed the story, it was too bogged down with slow and unimportant filler。 I truly wish this had been one book well edited and faster paced。 The satisfying ending did raise this from 2 to 3 stars, but I have difficulty recommending this one even though I love this author。

I am SO disappointed with the ending。 At times I was close to not finishing it but I was hopeful about the ending being a redeeming factor。 It was such a let down and felt like the author took the easy way out。

Meh。 I generally love this author。 This book kinda dragged on for me compared to the 1st in the series。 Shadow’s character was pretty in-inspiring。

I learned a long time ago that tears don't save lives。 All they do is blur your vision。 Boy, I am disappointed 😭 What the heck did I read?! I had my worries when I started this。 Worries I might get confused because I remembered excactly nothing from the first book。 Apart from liking it。 That problem was solved by the author by giving us a little summary before starting with the new story and I got into the story easily enough。 There were still things I was a little confused about but I can't I learned a long time ago that tears don't save lives。 All they do is blur your vision。 Boy, I am disappointed 😭 What the heck did I read?! Many of the things I enjoyed about The Queen's Assassin were missing from this sequel。 I was disappointed that this became an angst-filled self-pity trip for Lilac - who was so strong and driven in the first book。 The alternating perspectives with Cal seemed to emphasize that weakness。 I honestly didn't care whether their love would survive。 It felt like the hero of the story had no voice in its telling。 Many of the things I enjoyed about The Queen's Assassin were missing from this sequel。 I was disappointed that this became an angst-filled self-pity trip for Lilac - who was so strong and driven in the first book。 The alternating perspectives with Cal seemed to emphasize that weakness。 I honestly didn't care whether their love would survive。 It felt like the hero of the story had no voice in its telling。 。。。more
